On October 17, 2024, the Abu Hussein School, a UN-run facility sheltering displaced people in Jabalia Refugee Camp, was hit by an Israeli airstrike. The attack killed 28 people, mostly women and children, and injured more than 160. The strike came without warning and severely damaged the school building.
